Notifications and browser alerts

The bell, what you hear about and how, and pop-up notifications on your computer or phone.

ArtworkDesk tells you when something happens that you need to know about, such as a customer sending their design or a job being ready to go. You can hear about it in three ways:

  • In the app: in the bell at the top of every page.
  • Email: an email with a button that opens the order or quote.
  • Browser: a pop-up notification from your browser, even when ArtworkDesk isn't open.

You never get a notification about something you did yourself.

The bell

The bell in the top bar shows how many notifications you haven't read. Click it to see the latest ones. Click a notification to open the order, quote or production board it's about; it's then marked as read.

  • Mark all as read clears the count.
  • See all opens the Notifications page, with everything you've been told about, newest first.
  • Settings opens your notification settings.

Choosing what you hear about

Open your notification settings from the bell (Settings), from the user menu at the top right (Notification settings), or from the Notifications tab in Settings. Everyone has their own settings.

Under What you hear about, each event has three tick boxes: In the app, Email and Browser. Tick the ways you want to hear about each one and click Save.

You only see the events that your role covers:

Event Who can get it
A customer sends their design People who work on orders: Owner, Admins, Sales and design
A customer approves a mockup People who work on orders
A customer asks for changes to a mockup People who work on orders
A customer accepts or declines a quote People who work on quotes: Owner, Admins, Sales and design
A new order arrives from your website People who work on orders
A job is ready to go into production People who use the production board, including Production
A job is ready to dispatch People who record dispatches, including Production
A job is assigned to you Only the person it's assigned to

To start with, everything shows in the app and in the browser, and the five customer events are emailed too. The production events aren't emailed unless you tick them.

Browser notifications

Browser notifications pop up on your screen, like a message notification, even when ArtworkDesk isn't open. They're turned on for each device and browser separately, so turn them on everywhere you want them: your work computer, your laptop, your phone.

  1. On the device, open your notification settings.
  2. Under Browser notifications on this device, click Turn on for this device.
  3. When your browser asks, allow notifications.

The box then says On for this device, and a test notification is sent straight away so you can see what they look like. Click a notification to open the order it's about. To stop them on that device, click Turn off.

Browser notifications only reach devices where you've turned them on, and only for events with Browser ticked.

On iPhone and iPad

Add ArtworkDesk to your home screen first. In Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. Open ArtworkDesk from the new icon on your home screen, go to your notification settings and turn them on there.

If it doesn't work

  • Notifications are blocked for this site: you (or your browser) said no earlier. Allow notifications in your browser's site settings (the icon to the left of the web address), then reload the page.
  • This browser can't show notifications from websites: try Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

Your devices

Every device you've turned on is listed under Your devices, with the date it was added. Click Send a test to send a test notification to all of them. Click Remove next to a device you no longer use, such as an old phone.

If a test doesn't arrive, turn notifications off and on again on that device.
